Choose six different parables from the list below. (Do not treat the same parable in two different gospels!) Answer the following questions in relation to each of the parables you have chosen.

 

Questions to answer for each parable (abbreviated example provided in parentheses):

Scripture reference and image/subject of the parable (i.e. Mt 13:44, treasure in a field)

Theme/ main idea of the parable (this is literary world!) (i.e. for Mt 13:44 surpassing value of the kingdom)

Contemporary World understanding of the parable. What does this parable teach us today? (i.e for Mt 13:44 the parable challenges us—are we really willing to "sell all" to gain the kingdom? And then you would provide a concrete example of what this might look like today.)
