The perspectives and encounters that the Native American and Colonial alone with the Puritan had with each other during the early period of American literature was quit intense.  Native American had different tribes that spoke different languages, they develop distinct cultures and they also had their own political structures. The Native American was efficient farmers. They grew their crop in the same fields such as beans, pumpkins and squash. This puzzled the Europeans who grew their crops in different fields. They really didn't understand the Native American way of   life and because they didn't understand them, they set out to destroy them.

Even in the early years of settlement, European colonists of ten criticized one another for dealing too harshly or too greedily with their Native neighbors. A person might argue that even under the best of circumstances, colonial attitudes toward their original neighbors were colored by ignorance of tribal cultures and desire for profit.

In the minds of the Native American, the European discovery of the new world was more aptly an invasion. Native Americans had inherited the land that is now called America and eventually their lives were destroyed due to European Colonization. The Europeans actually changed the Native American way of life and it wasn't for the better. Some of the Native American was sold into slavery and many of them were force off their land. When the Europeans settled they brought with them different types of diseases which killed off many Natives Americans because they had no immunity against. With the diseases and the war, ninety percent of the Native American was killed.

When the Puritans arrived in 1629, their religion affected their attitude toward the Native Americans. They felt that the Native Americans were beneath them because of their lifestyle.

Some of the Puritans thought that they could be converted to Christianity. The Puritans was very high on themselves to think that God had bestowed New England upon the English. The Puritans want the Natives to basically disappear. They felt that the Natives weren't doing right when it came to their land. So, they believed that they were entitled to it.

In my conclusion, The Europeans and the Puritans were a very cruel group of people. For them it was about power and profit. They didn't understand nor did they care about their culture nor what their land meant to them and because of lack of understanding , the Native Americans was mistreated, enslave and killed. No one should be treated in that matter.
