Your assignment for this unit is to create a PowerPoint presentation based on the following scenario: The university is creating a symposium to introduce topics for all incoming freshmen psychology students. Students in upper-level psychology courses will present the topics. You have been tasked with presenting an introductory look at the visual system, visual information processing, and speech cognition. Include the following components in your presentation: Define key functions of the visual system, and describe how sensations become perceptions. Discuss the theories of visual object recognition, including feature analysis theory and recognition-by-components theory. Explain speech perception, and discuss speech perception theories, including special mechanism approach, phonetic module, and categorical perception. Your completed presentation should be at least 12 slides in length, not including title and reference slides. Include at least three outside resources, two of which must come from the Waldorf Online Library. The third resource may be your textbook.
