Coursework Title:
Psychology and Work
Task Details/Description:
Priority Data Ltd is a data management company which has recently launched a new software package. This has been a great success and the company has to expand to meet demand from new and existing customers. The founders and owners of the company Jill and John Marshall have recruited a new management team to oversee the business growth as they are no longer able to deal with the management needs of the growing business. The new team include Customer Support Manager, Sales and Marketing Manager, Innovation and Technical Manager, Human Resources Manager and a Finance Manager.
Each of the new managers will need to recruit and select new staff to their new departments and will, of course, want to select the best people for the new job roles. New employees will need to be trained in order to develop the behaviours needed to help the company succeed.
Jill and John Marshall have always focused on the importance of team work in the company and are keen that the growing company should maintain a positive work place culture where employees are motivated and engaged. New staff will be joining existing employees, many of whom have worked for the company since it was formed 10 years ago. Jill and John want the company to be a great place to work so that employees’ well-being is considered and that they are able to perform well in their jobs.
You are a consultant for People Perspectives Ltd which is a consultancy company which advises on how to apply psychology in the workplace to achieve organisational growth and positive workplace culture. You must produce a business report for the owners and senior management team. In this report you must identify three areas from the description of the company situation. These three areas must be areas where psychological theories, models or concepts might be applied and used to help the organisation achieve what is needed. You need to identify the areas, briefly explain the theory, model or concept that you think is relevant, discuss any evidence that supports its use and then explain your ideas for how it might be applied in terms of practical policies, procedures or interventions.
Important note:
Students must draw on and use material covered in this module or drawn from the applied psychological literature. It is important to draw on credible academic and professional body sources not general material sourced from the internet.
