New Perspectives PowerPoint 2019 | Module 6: SAM Project 1b

Bayside Preschool for the Arts Parent Orientation Presentation

CUSTOMIZING A PRESENTATION AND THE POWERPOINT ENVIRONMENT

GETTING STARTED

  • Open the file NP_PPT19_6b_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as NP_PPT19_6b_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
    • Support_PPT19_6b_OrientationChanges.pptx
  • With the file NP_PPT19_6b_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

PROJECT STEPS

  1. As the principal of the Bayside Preschool for the Arts in San Francisco, CA, you have developed a presentation that will be used to introduce parents to the arts activities at the preschool.

Begin by customizing the fonts used in the presentation by selecting Century Gothic as the Heading font.
  2. View the Slide Master and then make changes as follows:
    1. Rename the Dividend Slide Master Arts Activities. (Hint: Do not type the period.)
    2. With the Arts Activities Slide Master still selected, change the background style to Style 5.
    3. Change the font size of the Master title style to 36 point, and then close Slide Master view.
  3. Save the presentation, compare the current presentation with Support_PPT19_6b_OrientationChanges.pptx, and then review changes as follows:
    1. On Slide 3 ("Child-Centered Focus"), accept the two suggested changes—the deletion of "own" and the insertion of "peak".
    2. On Slide 8 ("Dance/Movement Activities"), accept the suggested change and then add a space between "Dance" and "Activities."
    3. End the presentation review.
  4. On Slide 4 ("Fine Arts Components"), select the three bulleted items, then modify the bullet symbol as follows:
    1. Change the bullet to the flower symbol in the Wingdings font (Character code: 123).
    2. Change the color of the bullet symbol to Plum, Accent 1.
    3. Change the size of the bullet symbol to 115%.
  5. On Slide 6 ("Visual Arts Activities"), select the three bulleted items, then change the style of bullets to Arrow Bullets.
  6. Show the comments in the presentation, and then work with comments as follows:
    1. On Slide 7 ("Music Activities"), insert a comment containing the text We need a picture of a child playing music on this slide. (Hint: Include the period.)
    2. Go to the next comment in the presentation (on Slide 8).
    3. Reply to the comment with the text I think it's fine as is. (Hint: Include the period.)
    4. Go to the next comment in the presentation (on Slide 9), and then delete the comment.
  7. Change the title to Orientation in the document properties for the presentation.
  8. Mark the presentation as Final.

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
