Health-related Views and Laws

            Health-related views and laws in the United States are determined by the historical, social, and political factors that frequently involve a discussion on collective good and individual rights. There are several health issues that need to get weighed. For example, childhood immunization should be optional or mandatory is an issue that has been in existence due to different social and religious practices (Mellerson et al., 2018). Childhood immunization should be optional to satisfy the needs of certain religions and social factors in various communities. The government should not regulate the safety of the workplaces since the regulation of the federal government on the issue would create more unnecessary policies that might interfere with the economy and the growth of the organizations. Work place safety is the responsibility of the organization or the company that provides the work since it understands all the working activities that are carried out.

Imposing higher insurance taxes or rates is not a rational method to punish poor health choices including tobacco smoking since the healthy choices are purely based on an individual's preferences and lifestyle. An individual's lifestyle should not get dictated by established policies that punish those that go against the set policies that invade one's lifestyle. Therefore, the policies on increasing the insurance rates would be unfair to the individuals because no one can avoid getting sick to some extent. Every individual can develop body conditions unrelated to poor health choices. National security has in many instances trump individual rights. For example, human rights violations in the name of national security include using lethal force through drone strikes leading to unnecessary injuries and mortalities. In major health pandemics, national security has not been significantly involved in violating human rights without reason of ensuring health safety among the citizens. The biological weapons have definitely violated human rights by causing unnecessary diseases and mortality among the victims (Pal et al., 2017).
