(3 points) a) Please select a topic: i. that is related to at least one chapter in the course textbook. ii. that can be investigated using at least two different nervous system measurement methods discussed in Chapter 3 of the course textbook. Furthermore, in part 2 of the term project assignment, you will need to propose an investigation that has elements of measuring both behavioural/cognitive and brain function. iii. for which there are numerous prior and relevant published journal articles. b) You may wish to consult online listings of recent research findings for inspiration, such as: i. https://www.nature.com/subjects/cognitive-neuroscience ii. https://www.cogneurosociety.org/cns-2021-blog/ iii. https://www.sciencedaily.com/terms/cognitive_neuroscience.htm 2. Find at least five original and empirical research articles from journal articles that describe prior investigations into topics close and related to your chosen topic. Your summary should include: i. Methodology: Identify the participants, the independent and dependent variables if applicable, and the major elements of the procedure (1 point). ii. A description of the most important findings and their relevance to your research topic (1 point). Notes: • Empirical: An empirical study is one that includes scientific methodology based on experimentation, systematic observation, or measurement, rather than theoretical formulation. An empirical study will include: o An abstract o An introduction Source: o A method section University of o A results section Arizona Library o A discussion/conclusion section o A list of references • Independent variable: a factor that is manipulated, or that makes groups different from each other, in a study. If it is a correlational or observational study there may not be an independent variable. • Dependent variable: the measurements taken/data collected in the study • Participants: from whom the data in a study is collected. Research Proposal Part 1 Criteria Ratings Pts Topic Topic is novel, interesting, and relevant to course material; can be investigated using two brain measurement methods and also at least one behavioural/cognitive measure; there are numerous relevant empirical articles available. 3 pts APA Format References 5 pts APA format perfect: double-spaced, hanging indent, all elements included, capitalization & punctuation, italics, doi if available. Fighting Against Child Abuse

Introduction

Child abuse has been a big problem, especially in developing countries. Beating children and harassing them sexually are major problems. Research has to be conducted to investigate the cause of these problems and how to protect children from being abused. It is clear that most fo the police officers tend to get involved in the response of the disturbing cases from upsetting situation (Alison et al., 2011). For police to conducts, an investigation on the cases of a child abused the society has to play a major role on help them to arrest the suspect.

A child who has been abused either sexually or beaten/may have emotional stress or traumatic stress. The major organizations that protect children enquire and investigate are the police departments and social work services. These investigations about child abuse might be stressful to police officers. Studies make visible the fact that most officers being exposed to trauma tend to have different reactions whereby in others, the trauma experienced may bring serious complications (Alison et al., 2011). A child who has been abused may commit suicide or fails in his/her education due to stigmatization by other children.

Discussion

Children who have undergone abuse are likely to be exposed to challenges incidents that may affect them physically and emotionally. The supporting forces which offer the investigations mostly fail due to limited counseling and training on how to conducts their investigation effectively (Alison et al., 2011) indicate that the effects that arise from the forces that tend not to provide a safe working environment for their staff and take a step in making available and appropriate counseling and training on police personnel as an effective tool in handling and managing stress arising from trauma. The performance of the complicated tasks together with the reduced standards of proper investigation is at most time brought about by the poor wok performance due to lack of motivation for the officers.

Parents should be included in different ways by the professional to assist them during investigation especially in difficult tasks to solve the problem. Children who are abused should be taken for prevention and rehabilitation of abused children that are multidimensional and difficult task to solve the problem (bunjamin & Shemsije, 2015). Parents should also be counseled and provided with education on good parental skills to enhance the positive interaction between parents and children. According to (Bunjamin & Shemsije, 2015), many community services for different needs should be developed with the collaboration and creation of pro-laws to protect children, the law aimed at expanding services for the prevention of early childhood abuse. When children are placed, foster parents need training on the prevalence and consequences of emotional abuse and strategies to help their foster children recover from aftermath (Trickett et al., 2009).

The process of prevention of abuse in our country should be enhanced by the professionals, providing appropriates procedures to affect supervision to support effectively. If we have meaningful data in a hospital, effective and partial relations supported for the risk of children, therefore, is recommended related by the help they are based in a particular way on international findings (Bunjamin & Shemsije, 2015). Social work groups have largely emerged to support parents and giving them advice on how to handle their children. (Bunjamin & Shemsije, 2015), found that child and youth services should be the objective to create conditions for the life of the child, to support parents, to encourage the minors in their individual development and social.

To enhance the positive interactions between parents and children or services should affect the children in socio-emotional development and instructed support that they to communicate in families that have predispositions and indicator in the abuse that can occur (Bunjamin & Smemsije, 2015). Criminal offenses such as sexual child abuse, negligence, and physical abuse. It is important to have a well-organized organ that will providing justice and punishes the criminals who abused children. Protecting children should be based on the views concerning the protection and inefficient assistance, it will be vital to gain the damage and cooperation of children and when it is possible (Bunjamin & Shemsije, 2015).

Most children who are affected, are from low socioeconomic status. Race and ethnicity have accelerated the abuse of children. Researches show that most of the children from Africa tend to be abused and neglected more as compared to the children belonging to the white people. Despite all the researches based on the different sources of data and also definitions. It is known that all the children regardless of their ages deserve a better and safe environment free form abuse and neglection (Beverly et al, 2016). The key factor which causes some parents to abuse their children are divorces, parental substances abuse, parent stress, and parental mental health issues among others.

Factors that are considered to emerge as being protective to these children from abuse and neglect include the families that are supportive and also the social networks around these children. Other factors tend to include the employment of the parents and the access of good health care systems together with proper housing and other social services that are important to their well-being (Beverly et al., 2016). No procedure has been applied to determine why the children are been abused and neglected. Concerning the protection of the abused child, the public authority for the protection of children will evaluate the situation through its specialists and carry out the necessary investigation that can help the authorities to resolve the case and recommend measures that must be imposed (Carmina & Daniela, 2011). Although groups and organizations have emerged to deal with those who offend children, cases of child abuse are growing higher and higher every day.

Conclusion

To prevent a child from been abused and neglected progress has been made to understand the cause and how to solve this problem. The need to ensure that the government brings about interventions for the abused children and establish laws that are to be followed strictly in the avoidance of child abuse and neglection is of great importance (Beverly et al., 2016). Therefore we can conclude that child abuse is a result of poor interaction between parents and their children or poor neighborhood. There is no method to be applied to predict who will be the next victim. It is the role of the government and parents to offer good security to children and counsel the children who has been victims of the abuse.
