Describe the most common misbehaviors in your classroom/school (virtual and in person) today. Which behaviors do you find more problematic for teachers today. Explain why
Classroom Misbehavior
Schools are meant to nurture students into becoming responsible adults in life. Students are expected to obey the school authorities and follow the teacher's instructions. Many students comply with the school rules and regulations, which enhances their peaceful stay in the institution. Some students, however, fail to follow the rules and engage in misbehaviors which result in poor academic results and poor relationships between the students and the teachers (Johnson et al.,2019). The following are some of the misbehaviors in my classroom.
Disrespectfulness
Some of the students fail to respect the school authorities. Student rudeness is derived from peer pressure. Some students prove difficult to honor the teacher’s rules and form illegal groups in the institution. The students extend their disrespectful nature to the prefects and other stakeholders in the school. For instance, a prefect can ask one of the students to sweep the classroom, but the student ignores it. Some of my classmates are rude not only to the class representatives but also to the teachers.
Idleness
Idleness is also misbehavior in my classroom. Some of the students are fond of being idle and engaging in storytelling. Idleness makes the students interrupt the other students in the classroom through noise-making (Abacioglu et al.,2019). Idleness could make the students engage in wrong discussions, such as drug and shoplifting discussions. Schools should enact activities that engage the students to prevent idleness in schools.
Drug Use
One of the students in my class was found in possession of illegal drugs. It was found out that the student is a drug user. Drug use is a bad behavior because it distorts the students from normal learning. Drug use makes the user addicted to the drug, thus the need to use the drug frequently. Addicted students fail to meet the economic capacity to afford the drugs thus engage in stealing. Drug use is misbehavior in school that should be condemned. Drug use is problematic for teachers because once the students are addicted, it becomes a challenge to make them change their behavior (Gerra et al.,2020).
