Management

In the News Individual Assignment

The purpose of this assignment is to explore how Human Resource Management issues may exist in real life scenarios outside of the classroom. You are expected to: find a newspaper article related to HRM and write a report about the article, using the textbook, as well as 4 additional scholarly to support your analysis.

Your newspaper article should be from a reputable newspaper (paper or online source). Examples include, but are not limited to, the Toronto Star, the Globe and Mail and the National Post, etc. The article must be Canadian from the past 6 months, at least 5 paragraphs in length, and related to HRM concepts that we discuss in class. The article can be about local, provincial, or national topics. You also need to include an actual copy of the article and to cite the articles in the reference page.

Your essay should be 5 pages, double-spaced, APA format. The 5 pages does not include the cover page and reference page. The report should be structured as follows:

  • Cover page with your full name, professor’s name, student number, academic institution, course code, and date of submission, etc.
  • A brief summary of the article (approximately 100-200 words).
  • A detailed explanation of the main HR issue(s) supported by references.
  • A detailed discussion of the implications for businesses, employees, and/or society that arise from the article.
  • Recommendations for the issues presented.
  • A conclusion emphasizing what HR can learn from the issues raised in your news article.
  • A reference page that includes the main article used for your analysis; appropriate references to the chapters used from the textbook; and references to all additional sources.
