Management

NHM 475Decision-Making and Problem-Solving WorksheetScenario:You are the FSD at EKMC (Case Study) and you realize that there are numerous problems facing the FNS department. Some of the problems are very evident, and some are less evident, but are potential underlying issues that could become significant if not dealt with properly and in a timely manner. You are having a meeting with your management team and plan to solicit their feedback to address the problems. You have established a plan for conducting the meeting, and will discuss the following at the meeting:

1. Identify and list (state clearly) the problems that exist in the FNS department. Be able to justify each problem identified. Rank the problems from the most significant/important to least significant/but needs to be addressed

Note: Submit your responses by listing the problems identified in order of importance.

2. From your list of problems, identify one problem that your team feels must be addressed immediately. State the problem clearly, and justify your reason for selecting the problem.

3. Identify the criteria that will be used to select the best solution for the identified problem in question 2.

4. Assign weight to each of the criteria you established.

5. Determine and list alternatives for solving the problem. You must be able to provide a minimum of three options for this activity. The options should be clearly stated.

6. Analyze each of the options using the criteria you developed in questions 3 and 4. For each option, list the potential advantages and disadvantages of each option.

7. Determine the final decision - which option will you select and implement. Justify your reason.

8. Put a together an "implementation plan" for the option selected. The plan should include:

a. a timeline

b. potential resources needed

c. staff needed

d. monitoring & evaluation processes

e. How will you communicate to those that will be impacted by your plan?

Note: Plan can be a combination of a narrative format, listing, or a table. Present the plan in a logical manner. The "who, what, when, where, why, how" should be addressed if appropriate. If you gave it to me, I would know exactly what to do to implement it from start-to-finish to ensure success.
