Working with Advanced Graphics and Media

  • *GETTING STARTED
  • Open the file SC_PPT19_EOM7-2_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as SC_PPT19_EOM7-2_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • To complete this SAM Project, you will also need to download and save the following data files from the SAM website onto your computer:
    • Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_Cycling.mp4
    • Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_CyclingMusic.mp3
    • Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_GroupCycling.jpg
    • Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_MountainView.jpg
    • Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_OvernightTrips.pptx
    • Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_Camping.jpg
  • With the file SC_PPT19_EOM7-2_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. As the owner of Voyages, a cycling equipment store in Moab, Utah, you create a presentation for customers interested in exploring popular cycling trails in the area.
Start by adding a hyperlink to the picture on the title slide that goes to Slide 9 ("Let's Go Cycling!").
  2. On the title slide, insert the audio clip file Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_CyclingMusic.mp3. Position the audio clip directly below "Area" in the slide subtitle. Trim the audio clip so that it stops at 00:07.000. Change the audio clip Start option to Automatically. Select the Play Across Slides audio option. Rewind the audio clip after playing. Loop the audio clip until stopped. Change the audio Volume to Medium. Hide the audio clip object during the slide show.
  3. On Slide 3 ("Who We Are"), demote the "Yolanda Warr" box so that it appears as a subordinate of the "Gary Wong" box. Increase the width of the "Kevin Danes" box to 3.5". Change the fill color of the Kevin Danes box to Sky Blue, Accent 5, Darker 50%.
  4. On Slide 4 ("Cycling Trip Categories"), convert the picture to SmartArt using the Alternating Picture Blocks SmartArt layout. Add two new shapes to the SmartArt. Insert the picture file Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_GroupCycling.jpg into the first new shape. Insert the picture file Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_Camping.jpg into the second new shape. Enter text for the SmartArt in the SmartArt text pane as shown in Figure 1, adding bullets as needed. [Mac Hint - Delete the picture that currently appears on Slide 4; insert SmartArt using the Alternating Picture Blocks SmartArt layout; insert the picture file Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_MountainView.jpg into the first new shape; insert the picture file Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_GroupCycling.jpg into the second shape; insert the picture file Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_Camping.jpg into the third shape; and then position the SmartArt as shown in Figure 1.]
  5.
  6. With Slide 4 still displaying, add Trail maps provided as the second bullet under "Day Trips." Move the "Guided Rides" SmartArt shape up. Close the text pane. Change the color of the Smart Art to Colorful-Accent Colors. Resize the SmartArt so that it is exactly 5" in height and 7" in width. Apply the Polished 3D effect to the SmartArt.
  7. Open Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_OvernightTrips.pptx. Switch back to the current presentation and go to Slide 8, which is currently blank. Take a screen clipping of the first slide in the Support file. Include only the slide in the clipping.
  8. On Slide 9 ("Let's Go Cycling!"), insert the video file Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_Cycling.mp4 without using a content placeholder. Resize the video proportionally so that its Height is 4" and position it in the middle of the slide. Trim the video so that it stops at 00:05.00. Add a video poster frame using the file Support_PPT19_EOM7-2_Mountainview.jpg. Start the video when it is clicked on. Select the option to play the video full screen. Save the Presentation.
  9. In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, and exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
