Homework answers / question archive / You are the brigade commander during an operational deployment
You are the brigade commander during an operational deployment. A U.S. DOD contractor authorized to accompany the force (CAAF) working on your forward operating base (FOB) as a communications technician is caught with multiple firearms and ammunition in his possession. You suspect that he may have had something to do with a recent shooting of another contractor on your FOB. What are the appropriate actions for you to take?
A. Have the contracting officer representative (COR) observe the contractor for suspicious behavior in order to build up evidence against him.
B. Call the suspect's boss and let them deal with this. The contractor is responsible for the actions of his employees.
C. Turn him over to the local host nation (HN) authorities since the crime occurred in their country.
D. Contact the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and the Judge Advocate General (JAG) on this potential legal action. DoD CAAF contractors can be held for violations to U.S. federal law and Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
