Treadwell Real Estate Agency

MODIFYING A PRESENTATION

GETTING STARTED

  • Open the file IL_PPT16_2a_FirstLastName_1.pptx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as IL_PPT16_2a_FirstLastName_2.pptx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .pptx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • With the file IL_PPT16_2a_FirstLastName_2.pptx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the presenter notes on Slide 1.
    • If the presenter notes do not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.

PROJECT STEPS

  1. As an assistant at the Treadwell Real Estate Agency, you are helping the agents modify a presentation for potential home buyers. You will modify the first few slides and submit the presentation for review before completing it later.

On Slide 1 (“Buying your first home”), format the text as follows:

    1. Change the character spacing of the title text object to Loose to increase the spacing between letters.
    2. Change the font of the subtitle text object to Cambria to contrast with the title text.
    3. Change the font color of the text “Treadwell Real Estate Agency” to Orange, Accent 3 (7th column, 1st row in the Theme Colors palette) to coordinate with the picture of the road map.
  1. On Slide 2 (“Big picture”), convert the bulleted list to SmartArt using the Hierarchy List layout shown in Figure 1 below.

  1. With Slide 2 still displaying, apply the Moderate Effect SmartArt style to the SmartArt.
  2. On Slide 3 (“Is buying right for you?”), add and position shapes on the curved line as follows:
    1. Copy the first green and blue circle on the left, then paste it on the same slide.
    2. Move the circle you just copied so it becomes the third circle on the curved line, as shown in Figure 2 below.
    3. Change the stacking order of the fourth circle so it appears in front of the curved line.
    4. In the fifth shape, group the small green circle with the larger blue circle.

  1. With Slide 3 still displaying, modify the house shape to mimic similar shapes on later slides as follows:
    1. Change the weight of the shape outline to 2¼ pt.
    2. Apply Offset Diagonal Bottom Right from the Outer section of the Shadow Shape Effects gallery.
  2. With Slide 3 still displaying, modify the oval callout shape as follows:
    1. Change the style of the oval callout shape to Moderate Effect – Red, Accent 6.
    2. Apply Preset 3 from the Preset section of the Shape Effects gallery.
    3. Enter Rent or buy? in the shape.
    4. Use Smart Guides to position the shape so the callout points to the first circle on the curved line, as shown in Figure 3 below.

  1. On Slide 4 (“Are your finances in order?”), select the house shape, then select the arrow. Merge the two shapes using the Combine command. Refer to Figure 4 below.

  1. On Slide 5 (no title), format the shapes to match other slides in the presentation as follows:
    1. Rotate the pentagon shape using the Rotate Left 90° option.
    2. Move the icon of four people over the pentagon, using Smart Guides to align the shape and icon as shown in Figure 5 on the next page.

  1. With Slide 5 still displaying, switch to Outline view, then enter text to complete the slide as follows:
    1. Enter Do you have a team? as the slide title.
    2. Enter Realtor or agent as the first bulleted item.
    3. Enter Lender as the second bulleted item.
    4. Enter Inspector as the third bulleted item.
  2. Add a footer as follows:
    1. Display the slide number.
    2. Enter the following text:

Treadwell Real Estate

    1. Show the footer on all slides except the title slide. (Hint: Use the Don’t show on title slide check box in the Header & Footer dialog box.)

In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following page. Save your changes, close the presentation, then exit PowerPoint. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
