For this assignment, you will be writing a 5 to 8 page formal, APA-formatted paper examining the utility of the common morality framework and one other framework for solving an ethical dilemma, how those frameworks align with the NASW Code of Ethics, and professional social work practice issues present in the ethical dilemma case.

Please choose one of the following frameworks to discuss in addition to the common morality framework:

-utilitarianism

-deontology

-Rawls’s ideas on justice

-virtue ethics

Create a paper in which you must include the following points:

- Describe both of the frameworks using terminology that relates directly to the frameworks

- Identify the pros and cons of each framework for solving ethical dilemmas in regard to the promotion of social justice

- Apply the frameworks in order to solve the provided ethical dilemma case.

***IMPORTANT NOTE: Summarize how the common morality framework is used/implemented to solve the case. Use ONE side of the dilemma to identify harms and benefits, moral rule violations, beliefs of the person, and alternatives to moral rule violations as well as why the action/rule violation is publicly allowed. DO NOT include a detailed description of all 10 morally relevant features and step 2 for both sides of the dilemma. This paper is a 5 to 8 page paper! REMEMBER: The aim is to demonstrate your understanding of how the framework is used to solve an ethical dilemma.

-Describe how each framework aligns (or does not align) with the NASW Code of Ethics

-Describe how at least one practice issue is present in the ethical dilemma and demonstrate your understanding of the issue using course content. Pick at least one of the practice issues that we have discussed throughout the semester including, but not limited to, professional social work practice, autonomy/self-determination, paternalism, cultural competence, bias, the duty to warn, and informed consent.

You are required to use a minimum of five scholarly sources for this paper: at least two sources for the common morality framework, at least two sources for the other framework you choose, and the NASW Code of Ethics.

*Think about the main ideas of the Common Morality framework and include discussions of those ideas in your paper. Remember that the idea of writing a paper is to demonstrate your understanding of the information presented in class and in your readings!

**Some of the main ideas are: rationality, publicly allowed, competency, paternalism, autonomy, self-determination, duty, rankings (of harms and benefits).
