PROJECT STEPS
1.
As an assistant at the Treadwell Real Estate Agency, you are helping the agents
modify a presentation for potential home buyers. You will modify the first few
slides and submit the presentation for review before completing it later.
On Slide 1 (“Buying your first home”), format the text as follows:
a.
Change the character spacing of the title text object to
Loose
to increase
the spacing between letters.
b.
Change the font of the subtitle text object to
Cambria
to contrast with the
title text.
c.
Change the font color of the text “Treadwell Real Estate Agency” to
Orange, Accent 3

column, 1

row in the Theme Colors palette)
to
coordinate with the picture of the road map.

On Slide 2 (“Big picture”), convert the bulleted list to SmartArt using the
Hierarchy List
layout shown in Figure 1 below.

With Slide 2 still displaying, apply the
Moderate Effect
SmartArt style to the
SmartArt.
4.
On Slide 3 (“Is buying right for you?”), add and position shapes on the curved
line as follows:
a.
Copy the first green and blue circle on the left, then paste it on the same
slide.
b.
Move the circle you just copied so it becomes the third circle on the
curved line, as shown in Figure 2 below.
c.
Change the stacking order of the fourth circle so it appears in front of the
curved line.
d.
In the fifth shape, group the small green circle with the larger blue circle.

With Slide 3 still displaying, modify the house shape to mimic similar shapes on
later slides as follows:
a.
Change the weight of the shape outline to
2¼ pt.
b.
Apply
Offset Diagonal Bottom Right
from the Outer section of the
Shadow Shape Effects gallery.

With Slide 3 still displaying, modify the oval callout shape as follows:
a.
Change the style of the oval callout shape to
Moderate Effect – Red,
Accent 6
.

b.
Apply
Preset 3
from the Preset section of the Shape Effects gallery.

Enter
Rent or buy?
in the shape.
d.
Use Smart Guides to position the shape so the callout points to the first
circle on the curved line, as shown in Figure 3 below.

On Slide 4 (“Are your finances in order?”), select the house shape, then select
the arrow. Merge the two shapes using the
Combine
command. Refer to Figure
4 below.

On Slide 5 (no title), format the shapes to match other slides in the presentation
as follows:
a.
Rotate the pentagon shape using the
Rotate Left 90

option.
b.
Move the icon of four people over the pentagon, using Smart Guides to
align the shape and icon as shown in Figure 5 on the next page.

With Slide 5 still displaying, switch to Outline view, then enter text to complete
the slide as follows:
a.
Enter
Do you have a team?
as the slide title.
b.
Enter
Realtor or agent
as the first bulleted item.
c.
Enter
Lender
as the second bulleted item.
d.
Enter
Inspector
as the third bulleted item.
10.
Add a footer as follows:
a.
Display the
slide number
.
b.
Enter the following text:
Treadwell Real Estate
c.
Show the footer on all slides except the title slide. (
Hint
: Use the
Don’t
show on title slide
check box in the Header & Footer dialog box.)
In Slide Sorter view, your presentation should look like the Final Figure on the following
page. Save your changes, close the presentation, then exit PowerPoint. Follow the
directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
