Project Overview

Fin-Click Solutions is a software development company based in the Kingdom of Bahrain. It is specialized in developing software for financial institutions. Recently, Adel Sami, the Vice President for Corporate Project Portfolio for Fin-Click, was approached by AtoZ bank to undertake an online banking mobile application project. AtoZ bank is seeking to attain a genuine alternative to traditional bank products through this project, it expects to clear benefits such as improved service and better value for money. Mr. Adel assigned Salman Ahmed as the project manager for this project because Salman is a certified professional project manager and has over 20 years of experience in developing financial solutions in the banking sector. 

Adel and Salman met at the beginning of October and discussed the details of the project and decided to start the project on January 2021. Adel estimated a budget of BD150,000. However, Salman was not confident of that figure and advised to increase it by %20.

The followings are the activities for implementing the project which was named eMoney. The following table presents a proposed set of activities with their estimated durations based on a recently completed project in Saudi Arabia.

Based on the given information answer the following:

  1. Develop a project charter for the eMoney project.
  2. Draw a network diagram for eMoney project using the precedence diagraming method. 
  3. How many paths are there in this project? List them with the duration of each.
  4. What is the duration of the eMoney project?
  5. What is the Critical Path(s) of the project?
  6. What is the total and free slacks of eMoney project? Show your work on the diagram.  
  7. Although the development team claimed that the time given for setting up the test environment is sufficient, the Salman was not confident from that claim and he placed 2 extra weeks as a contingency. He also added seven more contingency days just in case other tasks may slip the schedule.
    1. Show the effect of these provisions on the network diagram and recalculate the overall duration of the project after introducing these changes.
    2. Explain the effect of these provisions on the critical path 
  8. Assume that the eMoney project was scheduled for 10 months and its total budget will be spent equally each month until the project completion. After 4 months the project manager finds that only 12.5% of the work is finished and a total of BD20,000 spent. Given the above information, answer the following questions: 
    1. What are the cost and schedule variances for the project?
    2. Using the cost and schedule performance indices, how is the project doing in terms of budget and schedule? Show your calculations
    3. Calculate the estimate at completion (EAC) for this project. Is the project performing better or worse than planned?
