In week 2 we focused on contract law which I personally found to be a very helpful learning experience. I have learned about contract law before in a business law class but the class was not set up nearly as hands on as this one which I found to be very helpful when trying to grasp the concepts in this course. Reading actual cases allows me to see the terms used in real life situations which is definitely my learning style. One of the biggest takeaways from this unit was that concept of oral contracts. I think it is important for just about anyone going into a business deal to understand that under the correct circumstances, oral contracts are still enforceable. I was watching a very overly cheesy romance movie on Netflix and watched a scene where a woman was planning to sell her Bed n Breakfast and even agreed to a final price and attended a meeting to sign the contract when last minute she backed out. The movie was set in New Zealand but all I could think about is that if they were in America, there is a good chance that the large corporation, traveling to make an offer, receiving a verbal yes to buy, and even the seller verbally agreeing to a final price with multiple witnesses, they would most likely sue.

I think as I dive into law concepts in the future, I am going to notice that these concepts will hopefully stick with me and allow me to apply them to the decisions I make in the future.
