Leadership in the Climate Crisis

This discussion will allow you to think about what you could do on a grass-roots level to provide leadership in the Climate Crisis.  Please watch this lecture by Dr. Richard Oppenlander to the EU Parliament regarding Global Depletion, a series of environmental problems that are related, such as greenhouse gas emissions, water usage and drought, rainforest deforestation, topsoil erosion, loss of biodiversity and species extinction, ocean pollution and acidification, poverty and hunger, etc.

1. You can analyze any specific problem/aspect of Global Depletion in which you feel that you can provide leadership.  Do not pick the same problem that another student has selected.  How could you, at a grass roots level, provide leadership for that problem? Please entitle your post with the problem you will focus on. (1 point)
2. Do some research on your chosen problem. Find at least 2 current statistics to share with the class and provide the link to your sources. (2 points)
3. Identify at least two obstacles to addressing your problem.  Please use and bold the terminology from the book (i.e. "unclear goals") and support your assertions with details about the situation.  Avoid repeating the same type of obstacles that others have already covered, unless you can identify a unique aspect of that obstacle that has not been mentioned. (2 points)
4. Explain how you can address each of these two obstacles.  (2 points)
5. Apply either the path-goal theory or expectancy theory to one of your obstacles from question 2.  Explain how the theory fits and what it suggests in this type of situation.  Make certain to address each aspect of the theory you chose. (3 points)
