Technology is advancing and the PIXAR team is converting technology to use in movie making.

The key to understanding this case is the collaborative nature of film making. Imagine an

elliptical table in the center of a huge building. Behind each chair at teh table in which the

director, a producer, a character producer, a graphics person, a technology person , etc sit during

meetings is door. The door leads to the other people at PIXAR in that specialty. Some are

working alongside the lead, others on other projects, but they all work in a shared space.

PIXAR's issue is not how great the movies are- its that they can't make them fast enough.

Strategic human capital management is needed to achieve the goal of great films coming out at a

rate to warrant increasing share value.

What are the methods of creating synergy on a project team? This will require management of

the culture, the structure, technology and the kind of human capital we have access to. Human

capital can be hired or created- dependent on your time frame and the quality of humans you

begin with.
