How will technology look in 5, 10, or 20 years? Will it just be improvements upon what’s used now? Will the technology look completely different? Prior to this discussion, read Cook & Sonnenberg (2014) and Rushby (2013).

Initial Post: Create an initial response that addresses the following:

  • Review the ways that we have seen technology being used in education.
  • Take two theories of instructional design and forecast how future technology might be used based on these theories.
    • For example, you may examine any of the following theories: Discovery-based learning, Problem-Based Learning, Situated Cognition Theory, Elaboration Theory, Individualized Instruction, or Cognitive Load Theory.

Guided Response: Post responses to at least two classmates. Questions you might consider in your response include:

  • What do you think of their forecasts?
  • Have they accurately predicted how the theories of instructional design might influence the use of future technology?
  • Can you see how the future technology they describe might be used to implement a different theory of instructional design or vice versa?
