Pick two different cultures from the ancient eras we have studied this semester (this time period includes the prehistoric era up to and including the Middle Ages).

 

We have studied:                                                                                                                                Prehistoric Cultures (Paleolithic: OLD STONE AGE - Circa 2.5 million - circa 10,000 BCE and Neolithic NEW STONE AGE c.8000 – c.3500 BCE:)

Early Civilizations: Mesopotamia: Oldest Writings; Egyptian Culture; Ancient India;

Ancient Greece and China

Roman Era and World Religions (Hebrew Culture, Early Christian Literature/New Testament, Islamic Culture)

 

Pick an example of one artwork from each culture and compare the two artworks.

 

•             Choose examples with some kind of common theme. For example, compare a sculpture from one culture to a sculpture in another culture. •             Citing Sources. Use in-text citations throughout the paper and include a Works Cited of all of your sources at the end. Your professor must be able to find and review your sources from the information included in your Works Cited. 

 

 

Define any technical terms used from your readings and research. (important)

 

 

Write at least 1250 words total for this paper. This is the minimum number of words to be considered.

Helpful Suggestions for Getting Full Credit on the Final Paper

Select topics related to ancient cultures (before 1,000 C.E.) - art, religion, etc.

 

•             Write at least the minimum word requirement.

•             If relevant, discuss the primary sources (manuscripts/steele/papyrus/etc.) related to your topic.

•             Include at least 6 sources:  (see instructions for CREDO Reference but any scholarly sources can be used) - avoid Wikipedia or special interest/propaganda related sources. If you have questions about the quality of your sources, please contact me. Avoid plagiarism.

•             You can include your own observations and opinions, but please make sure to include supporting sources for those observations and opinions.

•             You will use MLA format and make sure you cite sources in-text and include a list of your sources (for example "Works Cited") at the end of the paper.

•             Copy and Paste: in general, avoid copy and paste and use your own words. Exception: you can quote/copy and paste as much as you want from your primary/ancient literary sources to use as examples, but those examples will not count toward your total word requirement.
