Write at least 300 words as a reflection

Health Science

Write at least 300 words as a reflection. Consider the following questions.

  • What were your early thoughts on Mindfulness? (If you can't remember, look back on your assignment from Week 3)
    • Have your thoughts or attitude towards mindfulness changed?
  • How has your mindfulness practice affected your life? Has it made a difference in your day-to-day life?
  • What benefits have you experienced from your mindfulness practice?

Mindfulness Relax, breathe, and smile are the three words that comes to my mind when I think of mindfulness. I remember when I was thirteen-fifteen years old my mom used to make me go to a Vietnamese summer temple retreat where I would be pair in groups with kids my age and we would practice mindfulness. How we were taught mindfulness at the time consist of sitting in the buddha hall and read traditional scripts and chant out loud. There were classes where we practice our breathing and learned how to control our emotions when we felt overwhelmed. Reflecting to the past makes me feel grateful because of my experienced at the retreat. I learned that mindfulness improves your mental health, gives you clarity to make decision, and better self-esteem. What I hope to gain from practicing mindfulness is to gain the knowledge and feelings I remembered from before when I was learning the importance of being mindfulness. I am aware that these things do not happen overnight but as long as I acknowledge my emotion and not let things cloud my judgment, it will help me with making decisions clearly. Secondly, I hope this will help me with my anger problem. I can be quite impatient and short temper at times, but I know if I remain persistent and practice mindfulness, I will see results overtime. I believe that as I got older things start to get more stressful with work, taking care of my eight year old and by practicing the methods of mindfulness I will be able to managed my stress.
