Crystal Gosney Liberty University BUSI 310-D14 LUO Professor C. Anastasia April 1, 2021 2 Team Leadership Concept Definition Team leadership refers to the sense of guidance and direction that a given group of people working together are assigned (Huang et al., 2019). The type of team leadership determines the performance of the team. Team performance refers to the output obtained from the functionality of an organization. A team consists of a group of people working together for the benefit of the organization. Summary The article is about team learning and how it is influenced by team leadership. It talks about team learning and how team leadership affects the behavior of the team. The article mentions that team learning is essential since it enables the organization to acquire knowledge and adapt to changes in the environment (Koeslag-Kreunen et al., 2018). The article reveals that achieving team learning is a process that does not automatically happen since it can cause complications. It should therefore get integrated slowly. Team learning generally describes learning processes affecting a given team in an organization. It lays out the significance of team learning behavior in achieving organizational success. It also discusses the essence of team leadership in determining team learning behavior. The article is based on previous research about how leadership determines team behavior, analyzing results in terms of quantity and quality to determine success rates. The article ends with results showing that different kinds of leadership provide different results. 3 Discussion Team leaders affect team activities. The behaviors of people in any given team are affected by personality and situation. A team leaders' personality and character influence how they manage a team (Huang et al., 2019). Team leaders' behaviors vary according to their problems; for example, during a crisis, it is possible to determine their behavior and personality based on how they react. As a result, team leaders with strong influence on the team affect team performance in success or failure. A leader with a high influence level is more likely to influence the team's morale and motivation, thereby providing efficiency. Improving efficiency in the team leads to improvement in team performance bringing about success in an organization. The source of team learning behavior influences the likelihood of team success. Team leadership behavior can originate vertically or through the shared source. Vertical team behavior is the leadership behavior attributed to one team leader appointed through the hierarchy to lead. Such leaders have the sole responsibility of leading since they have a decisive influence on the team. On the other hand, shared leadership behavior refers to the team leadership behavior whereby the team members get considered in making important decisions (Koeslag-Kreunen et al., 2018). The team members in shared leadership are allowed to participate in the administration. The two kinds of team leadership behavior influence the team members behavior, consequently, team performance. Vertical team leaders help improve efficiency, while shared leadership enables team members to share meaningful work behaviors. Both sources of leadership behavior are vital and encourage team learning. Leadership roles give individuals authoritative power to influence other group members. Studies suggest that team leaders impact a group's outcome than the members (Huang et al., 2019). Many organizations operate on a hierarchical structure, meaning that every group member 4 occupies a particular post in its hierarchy. Therefore, team leaders tend to have more power than the team members because of their hierarchy positions. Team leaders and team members' roles are different; therefore, they should get regarded as distinct. The team members' influence on the team's performance is also vital despite being ranked lower in the hierarchy. Team leaders motivate the team, provide guidance to the team, and maintain team members' relationships by ensuring a perfect flow of information in the group. Team leaders also help determine an organization's objectives; team leaders with high status have a correspondingly high objective for their team's performance. As a result, the high-status leaders influence the team spirit more. Biblical Integration Romans chapter 13 verse 1 King James Version "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. The verse says that everyone should recognize a higher power since God, the supreme being gives all higher powers. The essence of the verse is that it acknowledges the presence of leaders at different levels. The verse relates to leadership, whereby team leaders have authority and influence over the team members. The authority that the team leader has is ordained by God and should be respected. The authority of leaders should therefore be respected since all leadership roles are God-given. 5 References Bible, King James Version. (n.d.). U-M Library Digital Collections.
