The use of smartphones is one of the technological devices that directly affected me when I moved to Houston, Texas. As a new student from Nigeria in the MIS class, I was not conversant with computer-mediated learning during my first days in Houston. Nevertheless, my colleagues preferred its use since it kept us connected even after college. I enjoyed staying alone, undertaking physical activities, and taking a nature walk during my free time. I would leave my phone in the house as my colleagues kept calling. This caused a communication breakdown. After six months, I secured a job in the criminal justice department requiring comprehensive data analysis. Particularly, using the phone to analyze the data became a big challenge since I was not conversant with the technique used. As I moved forward, I understood the significance of a basic understanding of technological devices and specializing in data analysis. 

Privacy of information is one current issue in the use of technology affecting me and society as a whole.  The use of technology in the processing, interpreting, and sharing of information poses critical questions regarding an individual's right to privacy, freedom, and autonomy (Britz, 2010). The issue arises from information accessibility and manipulation. The development of infopreneur increases the threat to the right to privacy. In handling the matter, technology can help understand the ethical and legal repercussions of such intrusion and outline key guidelines to dealing with the issue.
