Scenario

You are the manager of a software development team working on new applications for your company, Optimum Way Development, Inc. Your director has called for all development teams to submit product briefs detailing their current projects. The director plans to share the most promising product briefs with clients at an upcoming meeting. You have software design documents for two potential projects.

Directions

You must choose one of the potential products and use the information contained in the technical specification document to create your product brief. The brief is intended to explain the new application to potential clients. (Use the personas created for the 2-1 Milestone as the audience for this project.) You should highlight the features that will appeal to clients and persuade them to purchase the new application. Your brief should include the following:

  • An explanation of the features and functions of the product
  • Clear definitions of technical terms and concepts that are relevant to communicating the product capabilities
  • An explanation of the benefits of using the product within an organization
  • Graphics that support or clarify technical information concerning the product
  • Appropriate language for the intended audience

The profile includes the behaviors of the individual, the demographics, the goals, the interests, and the challenges faced by the individual. The paper documents the audience persona for an app called DataNanny, a security product that insulates corporate and personal data from being collected online; the app works with any app and devices, including tablets, desktops, and phones. Therefore, the audience persona for the app essentially specifies the ideal audience likely to use the product (Joni, et al., 2018). Persona-targeting Asian-Americans. 3 The ideal audience works with big data, either by producing its own or by accessing the data from other sources and working on it online. The audience is security conscious and works on confidential corporate or individual information or proprietary data. The audience faces continuous challenges of data phishing, breach of data confidentiality which results in financial losses and loss of trust. Demographics The audience is aged between 16 and 70 years. This is because the audience within the age bracket access and share a lot of personal information such as credit card numbers when making online purchases and other personally identifying information that may be collected online and sold. Furthermore, the age bracket interacts with online devices more often than people in lower or higher age brackets. Educationally, the audience is literate and can use online devices to share information; it also can access information and process it on behalf of its clients. In the case of a corporate audience, it can work on big data, for example, the online retailer or a data processing organization. Socially, the audience may be of any socio-economic category if it uses data, including confidential data online. The audience should at least own a smartphone, which is increasingly affordable in the current era. Behavioral Attributes The audience should like engaging in an online conversation that involves sharing of information. For example, the online interactions include sending confidential medical 4 information to online physicians, sending marketing strategies to different organizational subsidiaries, and engaging in online transactions. Goals The audience’s goal is to shield its interactions, including data from online spies, who could access, collect, and sell it. Furthermore, the audience’s goal is to continue enhancing online interactions because it is the new way of conducting business and a convenient way of getting in touch, particularly when social distancing measures are initiated. In this case, it aims at continuing to interact online and share information without risking the theft of the data. Notably, the audience's goal is to sustain the integrity of data and confidentiality of any information transmitted. This means its objective is to ensure the information received is confidential and cannot be collected by any third party online. Interests and Challenges The interest of the audience is to continue interacting online safely. However, the audience faces the challenges of ensuring that data online is secure. It spends money buying a data security app, however, they are not effective because what is available is app-dependent; that means the audience has to buy a security app for every app it uses or risk exposure online 5 Reference Joni, S., Bernard, J. J., Jusin, A and Haewoon, K (2018). Are personas done? Evaluating their usefulness in the age of digital analytics. Persona Studies 4(2), pp. 47-52. Doi: 10.21153/psj2018vol4no2art737 S/W Project 1: The team is working on another security product. This product is aimed at both consumer level and business level customers. The product tentatively named “DataNanny” is a data tracker isolation product. DataNanny will work to isolate you and your personal/corporate data from being collected and sold online. Unlike other products that work in isolation or on an app-by-app basis, DataNanny will be app-independent and multi-device aware. It will achieve a totally isolated “environment” for its users ensuring them of completely untracked usage of all of their personal computing devices (phones, tablets, and laptops/desktops). DataNanny, however, requires total buy-in. Users, both individual and corporate, must install and run DataNanny on all of their devices for the product to be functional. If any single device is omitted, the blocking of data will not be functional. You can not dam a river if the dam has holes in it. DataNanny will function using a central server facility that will coordinate all tracking blockers installed on your devices. All data requests will be routed through DataNanny, which will be constructed to function as a proxy server for your devices. This will allow DataNanny to filter all network requests for data and allow only those requests that have been deemed “safe.” The technical challenge for DataNanny’s proxy server is speed. Users will only tolerate a moderate amount of delay in page loading and data transfer rates before they begin to lose faith in the value of anonymity. DataNanny will provide a logging and notification system, where users can see what requests have been made and which of those have been blocked or allowed. Users will be able to challenge a blocked or allowed request. Challenged requests will initially be reviewed by an AI, and all requests with a certainty level below 85% will be directed to an evaluation team to determine why the user needs the request to be allowed. A user’s request will take no more than 24 hours to resolve. Further research will be needed to determine the AI inputs appropriate to satisfy a minimum 95% success rate with challenged requests. All software will be written in Swift due to speed constraints. If management determines that this makes recruitment difficult, the language can be changed to C++.
