As detailed by Ellis-Petersern and Rahman (2021), in February, Delhi witnessed communal violence through its Northeast, which is termed as the worst religious conflict in the city in four decades. Hindus and Muslims are cited to be involved in the conflict. Nonetheless, the Muslims fell victim to violent Hindus. The Hindus travelled from outside Delhi and carried guns, and explosives, and attacked, shot, and lynched Muslims in the streets. The police are cited to threaten, assault, and intimidate victims of the violence, since the police force is predominantly Hindu. The sources of the conflict can be attributed to the different religious practices and the belief that one religion is superior to the other.
