Part 1 Growth mindset is the idea that you can do something

Writing

Part 1

Growth mindset is the idea that you can do something. By simply adding the word yet to a sentence, you can change your thoughts from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. For example, "I can’t manage my time well” vs “I can’t manage my time well, yet.” After reviewing this week’s resources on the growth vs. fixed mindset, we now understand how our thinking can influence the successes we achieve and how we overcome and view previous challenges.

Part 1

My career goal:

My career goal is to be an outstanding manager with exceptional skills both managerial and technical that will help me lead with distinction.

Developing a growth mindset will be important towards my goal attainment since managers are required to be thoughtful, critical and good time managers. These attributes can be improved with the growth mindset (Dweck, 2016).

Part 2

My time management skills are at an average. In terms of time management, I am not yet excellent but I am still working on improvement through daily schedule planning. Some of the changes I have made in my daily schedule include having specific waking up schedules that help me plan my day well. Being proactive is important in developing a growth mindset towards effective time management.

Part 3

My SMART goals include:

  1. S – Specific. I have developed a regular sleeping schedule which is aimed at helping me wake up earlier to plan my day.
  2. M – Measurable. The goal can be measured through observing my sleeping and waking up time to determine the goal attainment.
  3. A – Attainable. The goal is achievable since it involves a planned time schedule which will not interfere with any of my programs.
  4. R – Relevant. Time management is an important characteristic for any aspiring manager and thus this goal is relevant to my career.
  5. T – Timebound. My schedules will be set to run for six months thereby I shall evaluate if my objectives and goals have been attained.

Part 4

I have encountered several instances of miscommunication. A memorable one happened in school where a friend of mine accused me of hiding their personal belongings. According to him I was the last person in possession with the belongings. The convey seek habit of first to understand then be understood could have helped in calming the situation. Maybe I could have listened to him before I explained myself. Taking care of my well being is important since it helps me build emotional, physical and social intellectual capabilities that will help me handle others around me.

Part 5

Begin with the end in mind helps me to formulate objectives and goals that would be attainable at the end of the activity. The goals and objectives will keep me focused and motivated to achieve what was set. Study strategies most helpful would include time management and focusing on the goals and objectives of my career (Yeager & Dweck, 2020). Learning styles are important since they provide guidelines that ensure I remain focused throughout my studies to achieve my career goals.
