The approach of quality improvement aids in reducing variances in medical procedures and the identification of best practices. Furthermore, Six Sigma in medical facilities aids in managing change and the achievement of significant improvements in healthcare systems. Generally, six Sigma helps to improve patient satisfaction by reducing their waiting time and promoting faster service delivery. It also helps reduce errors caused by medical professionals and thus reduces hospital mortality rates (Mahey, 2020). Therefore it is a realistic objective for medical facilities.

The Healthcare industry should not tolerate higher rates of errors. So many errors occurring in hospitals mean so many death rates and people losing their loved ones. However, medical errors are so common in various hospitals, which is currently the third cause of death in American hospitals (ZaggoCare, 2021). Hospitals should therefore work towards minimizing the number of medical errors. They may achieve this through a series of strategies, including developing a safety culture within these institutions. High hospital error rates do not only result in death but also increase hospital expenses (ZaggoCare, 2021). Therefore the hospital industry should try to reduce error rates as much as possible.

Most medical professionals are usually reluctant to report these errors. These professionals fear the punishments they may face when reporting such cases, including losing their jobs (Rodziewicz et al., 2021). They, therefore, opt to keep quiet to avoid facing the rigid punishment actions of the facilities. However, failing to report these errors may lead to a series of harm to the patient.
