as with this i think chopin was narrating that woman was trapped or being a prisoner of her husband even though during that time or even at present time marriage is about the monetary comfort or sometimes love but as i read it there is no children mentioned in the story so I assumed that Mrs. mallard was unhappy, with her physical heart condition as narrated i think it is more likely describes the woman where treated at that time as weak, timid, irrational and with low self esteemed and that's why it was quoted that there should be an equal right with fellow creature.
