Module 6 Writing Assignment

During the semester, you studied and discussed a number of environmental issues that relate to the ocean. This assignment is a chance for you to articulate some of what you learned this semester in a two-part writing assignment (Part A and Part B).  

Part A:  Imagine that you are a member of the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). One of your responsibilities is to serve as chief adviser to the president of the United States on all ocean conservation matters. Write a memo to the President, explaining what he/she should do in order to deal with the main threats to the ocean. You do not need to present every single environmental issue that affects the ocean - only the top three (3) that YOU consider to be the most pressing problems and that you believe should to be addressed by the government.
Criteria for Part A:
 - Properly explain why the issues you are presenting are serious problems and the science behind each problem.
- Explain how governmental institutions and policies can in fact solve or minimize these problems.
- You must use proper citations (just like your discussion forums).
- Word count should be 400-500 words.

Part B: Read through the Module 6 Guiding Questions

and choose 10 that interest you the most.  For each question that you choose, list the question  number and write out a complete and well-thought out answer in your own words.  You should use the textbook chapter 17 & 18 and video episodes 24 & 25 as a resource, but do not quote or paraphrase the book - all answers should be articulated in your own words as a student.  You do not need to use citations for Part B.
Criteria for Part B:
-  Choose 10 Guiding Questions, list the number and a complete answer to each.
- Answers reflect the information from the textbook and/or video episodes, but are written in the students' own words.
-  Do not paraphrase or quote the textbook - write each answer in your own words. 
- You may format Part B as a list and you do not need to use citations. 

To submit this assignment :

• Make sure your full name is at the top of your assignment.
• Save both assignments (Part A and Part B) in one single MS Word file or a PDF file. Make sure your name and module 6 assignment are part of the file name (example = Chrishernandezmodule6assignment).
• With this assignment open in Canvas, click on the Submit Assignment button and then choose the File Upload option.
