HERE IS MY INTRODUCTION AND PEER Early-life misfortune and the likelihood of psychotropic medication use later in life Introduction The study focused on childhood and taking psychotropic medication a way of reflecting chronic disorder. The main aim was to determine the presence of association between childhood and taking psychometric medication. This could be helpful in obtaining the reason for early intervention to reduce consumption of psychotropic medications and associated costs. Sample size is a representative of the target population that can easily be managed. The sample size for this study was 2999 that consisted both of men and women in the USA that were aged 25 to 74 years old. Four main characteristics that were considered to be predictor variables were; childhood socioeconomic status, family structure, child maltreatment, and poor health which were further categorized into separate domain and single additive measure. The dependent variable was the psychotropic medication use. The dependent variable was binary in nature making appropriate to evaluate the variation in the odds associated with the predictor variables using logistic regression. This was because binary logistic regression enables modeling of a binary response variables against a given set of independent variables and its predicted likelihoods or probabilities are normally reliable. This also made it easier to predict the change in the odds of one taking the psychotropic medicine given the set of the predictor variables. The main research question was whether childhood misfortune and use of psychotropic medication in adulthood are associated. The researcher did not formulate hypothesis. The question was of importance since it could assist to find a relationship between childhood misfortunes and chronic disorder during old age. If there could be a positive relationship, then it could mean that as the child fortune increases, the chances of the child suffering from chronic disorder during old age increases.
