So far the differences I noticed between high school and college include:

1. You control your grade. The teachers are not required to let you know when your grades are slipping.

2. The length of classes are much longer then in high school

3. The time you have to spend making sure you understand the material and the completion of assignments

4. The amount of homework you get is way more then i used to get in high school.

Considering all the differences between high school and college I have learned that self discipline is important. In high school teachers accepted late assignment so i could procrastinate and still get full credit. But not here I cant. Also, the amount of time I take to complete my assignments is much more time consuming because in college you have to make sure that you understand. Basically, if you do not ask questions when you don't understand your on your own unless you get help elsewhere. Being in college has taught me the importance if time management. In high school I could stay up all night because the only thing I had to do was go to school the next day. Now, while in college I have to get my kids ready every morning, feed them, take them to school, then go to work for 8 hours, come home to cook dinner, bathe the kids and still find the 4 hours to do school work and get sleep. Way more responsibilities now then I had in high school.
