  1. Explain how you might acquire the skills and experience you do not yet have but need to be qualified for the occupation you researched today.

Currently I`m here in community college to obtain a physical therapy assistant degree, so that I can move on to a 4yr college to get my degree in applied science and transfer to a graduate school to get my masters in physical therapy. I have medical back ground for 18 yrs so all I need is the degrees. The rest will come with networking in school through internships and hard work. The last thing on the list to obtain my DPT which is a Doctorate of Physical Therapy so hopefully I will make the right moves so that I can get help paying for that and get some great recommendation letters from colleagues and co-workers.

  1. Identify and explain your opinion of both the positive and negative aspects of this occupation.

The positive side of being a physical therapist is helping patients who think they don`t stand a chance. Educating patients and colleagues on new findings with rehabilitation and research. Also the feeling of knowing you have helped someone. Now the down side is we can`t fix everyone and that’s a hard thing to deal with in the healthcare world. Nevertheless if you become an amazing physical therapist you may be ridiculed for doing so. And last but not least failing at something you thought might help someone.

  1. Would this occupation be a good fit for you?  If yes, then why?  If no, then why?

This occupation is an excellent fit for me since all I know is medical. I`ve always wanted to become a physical therapist since I was a child. I have been through so many challenges to get back in school to start my journey. I know for sure I will succeed this time around no days off.

  1. Describe how this occupation fits with your personal values (for example: independence, income, helping society, prestige, stability, and work/life balance).

The income is the money I`ve always wanted to make to live the life I believe I deserve also it’s a gold mine. I love the stability of this occupation unlike a medical doctor you don`t have to be on call or work ridiculous hours. The joy of being a part of research and helping patients is all I care about at the end of the day. You will be able to spend time with your family still be able to travel and enjoy life. So to me this is the perfect occupation for me.
