Essay Three Reflection: Causal Argument Reflection

Purpose: To reflect on the experience of paper #3 so that you can become more strategic and intentional in your future writing.

Task: Write a 1-2 page maximum (double spaced) reflective letter to a friend. Imagine a friend of your has asked, "What was it like writing your Causal Essay?" What are the things you would most want to share? Use the questions below to guide you while writing your letter.

Guidelines: Think back over the whole process for paper #3 (i.e., all the writing assignments, the in-class activities, drafting & revising, workshops, etc.), and answer the following 5 questions, based on your experience in a letter format. This means you must open the letter with "Dear [insert name of friend here]" or "Hi [insert name of friend here]" and end with a typical letter closing such as "Love, [Insert your name here]." Start with the opener and then give some context for the letter before beginning to answer the questions.

  1. What was the easiest part of writing this paper? Why? What was the greatest challenge to writing this paper? Why? How did you overcome this challenge? If you did not overcome this challenge, why do you think that is?

  1.  Was there anything that surprised you about the research process (finding sources, incorporating sources)? If not, what was the best and/worst part about incorporating research?
