Let's take an example of Apple which has gone under a tremendous change in organization culture within the past five years. The human resources management played a crucial role in changing the culture of the organization. Various innovative measures had been taken to make a shift in organization culture. A strategic plan has been devised to pursue in order to avoid any chaos while fulfilling the objective of bringing change in organization culture.

Case Study of Apple:

Apple is a gadget manufacturing company which is competitive in nature. The prices of apple are generally high and it faces a tough competition from those mobile manufacturers which produces mobiles at a very low cost. Therefore, the biggest challenge with Apple is to acquire the largest market share. Apple is an American-based company, however the manufacturing process of Apple takes place in countries like China, India, Vietnam, etc in order to lower down the cost of production. The decreased cost of production makes Apple a competitive company in the world market. It has been able to compete Korean and Chinese companies due to its expertise in technology along with low cost of production.

Human resource management has been drastically improved in order to change in organizational culture. Some of them are:

1. Appreciating the productive employees of the company by giving them annual or semi-annual appraisals.

2. Motivating them by regular interaction with them.

3. The problems of employees are well-listened by human resource management and are solved as soon as possible.

4. Employees are given various types of insurance which induces them to work honestly for the company.

Yes, the shift has been successful as Apple has managed to increase not only its market share, but also the profit margin. The market share of Apple in the first quarter of 2015 was 17.9% and in the first quarter of 2019, the market share of Apple stands at 47%, which is quite impressive. At the same time, the market share of companies like Samsung has drastically reduced. Therefore, one can clearly observe that Apple has done quite impressive after bringing changes in the work culture of the organization.
