Codon Chart A set of primers was designed to code for a series of amino acids

Codon Chart

A set of primers was designed to code for a series of amino acids. Review the codon/amino acid pairs in Data Table 2. Determine if the codons correctly code for the desired amino acid and record "yes" or "no" in Data Table 2. For each amino acid that does not contain the correct set of codons, provide the correct set of codons in the "fixed codons" column of Data Table 2.

Note: If there is more than one option for the correct set of codons, you only need to choose one of the correct codon options. If the codons are correct, then you will not fill in the "fixed codons" column of Data Table 2.

Just looking to get my worked checked, my answers are wihtin the table in BOLD, made the determination if the correct codons were correctly coded for the desired amino acid, and if it did not contain the correct codon it was noted as no and the corect codon was placed in the fixed codon portion of the chart.

  • Genes carry the genetic code, which is a collection of “codons” of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) and RNA (ribonucleic acid). These codons contain the information about polypeptide chain sequencing during “translation.”

A triplet code (codons) with four bases (adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G), and cytosine (C)) gives 64 combinations (Eg: AUG, UAG, UGA, etc.), which code for 20 specific amino acids.
