Common resource. The free weight station is rival but nonexcludable. Rival because, if a person is measuring his or her weight, he will prevent others from using this facility. However, no person can be barred from using this facility.

2. A large, beautiful fountain in a town square

Public good. The beautiful fountain is nonrival and nonexcludable. Nonrival because if a person is watching the beautiful fountain, he or she cannot prevent others from seeing the beautiful fountain. Nonexcludable because no one can be prohibited from seeing the beautiful fountain.

3. A new drum set for you to play in your friend's band

Private good. The drum is rival and excludable. Rival because when I will be playing the drum a will prevent others from playing it. Excludable because other people can be barred from playing the drum by the owner.
