  • accuracy
  • credibility
  • objectivity
  • currency

Tip #1: You do not need to compose a formal paragraph for each source, but your sentences should be complete sentences.

In the article “Track to Enact “Do Not Track”” by the USA Today Editorial Board it is discussed how websites collect users web browser history. Many social-networking sites such as Google and Yahoo collect users web browsing to tailor their pages and advertisements. In the article it shows accuracy through multiple examples such as the F.T.C and Wall Street Journal. It is mentioned how a company's representative acknowledged to USA Today, that Facebook automatically compiles a log of every web page its users visit that has a Facebook plug-in. With sources such as the Wall Street Journal and being published in the USA Today, the article is very credible. The author doesn’t show any personal bias or objectivity in the article by using credible sources and not relying on personal beliefs. The article was written almost an entire decade ago however, it still is relevant today considering we still have privacy settings that change every day. The USA Today seems to be comprehensive as it goes into detail about the F.T.C and online giants who collect your data. The USA Today has authority considering the credibility it has stablished for itself.

The article “Privacy and Facebook” by Rebecca Mackinnon is an excerpt from her book Consent of the Networked. As a result of this her essay was less accurate considering its all based on personal beliefs from her book. Mackinnon does not establish any credibility since she does not cite any outside sources other than mentioning the Green Movement. The objectivity of this essay is mostly based on personal beliefs and not facts. Mackinnon wrote her book in 2012 so her beliefs are out of date compared to today's privacy settings. The comprehensiveness of her essay is not extensive since there is not sources, but her message can still be communicated clearly. Compared to the USA Today, Mackinnon has no authority on the subject.
