• Select an organization that has been in the news in a negative way, such as Enron, in which a lack of values resulted in a failure to perform to expectations, or describe a situation in an organization with which you are personally familiar.
  (Please note: If you describe a situation that occurred in an organization with which you are personally familiar, but the information is not published or is not a matter of public record, please use a fictitious name for the organization and do not include identifying details regarding the organization or any individuals.)
• Assess the methods of executive and managerial selection in the organization you chose.
• Discuss your recommendations for types of instruments and methods that could be used to make it more likely the next CEO and senior managers would possess the values and abilities necessary to lead the organization both productively and ethically.

The Levinson article, "Organizational Character" (1997), provides a starting point, because it is a seminal article that gives important historical context. You can reference the Levinson article in your response, but you will also need to cite recent literature that extends the perspective he presents to support your recommendations.

Response Guidelines
