The aim of the assignment is to subject the student to a typical design problem related to neuroengineering

Electrical Engineering

The aim of the assignment is to subject the student to a typical design problem related to neuroengineering. This is a group assignment and students will be organised in groups of 2 to 3 persons.

2. Project Description

You are required to design and simulate using NI Multism, an analogue electronic circuit for acquiring neural activity from the device depicted in Figure 1. The design methodology for such circuits has been covered in courses BME307: Medical Instrumentation | and BME309: Biomedical Design that are pre-requisites to this

course.

3. Deliverables:

i. Report: to be submitted on Sunday the 29° of November 2620

4. Report:

The report must be between 4(minimum) to 6 (maximum) A4 pages (excluding title page, table of contents and references), typed using word (Time: New Roman or Arial font size 12), with clear, readable and numbered figures. For the contents and structure of the report, a template will be provided.

5. Assessment:

The assignment counts for 20% of your total course grade. For the assessment of the report the following rubrics and their corresponding weights are shown below. The questions inside the parentheses are helpful indicators of what the assessors will be looking for in the report.

1. Report structure (does it follow the template?)

5%

2. English language (Is the grammar and syntax of the report text of acceptable standard?

5%

3. Introduction, problem statement and objectives (Is there a proper introduction to the subject? Is the 10% problem well-formulated and are the objectives clearly defined?

10%

4. Specifications (Is there a list of specifications that is based on design constraints and standards (if 20% any)?

20%

5. Methodology (Does the design include theoretical analysis and simulation? Are the design steps clear 30% and understandable?

30%

6. Simulation results and discussion (Was the designed system simulated and tested? Are the results clearly presented? Is there any comparison 25% between theoretical and simulated results?) Are ~there any limitations in the implemented design? If

2s, what can be done to improve performance?

25%

7. Referencing (Was there proper referencing in the 5%, text of the report? Was there a diverse reference lest at the end of the document?

5%
