Throughout time, people have used the three appeals, ethos, pathos, and logos, to persuade people to agree with their opinion or purchase their goods. You will be given a name, and then you will create an ORIGINAL object that you will sell to your audience. You will need to complete each of the items below for your object.
1. Decide what your object is used for and describe it. Be sure to include all of the five w's.
a. Who would use it?
b. Where would you use it?
c. Why do you need it?
d. What does it do?
e. When is it used?
f. (maybe, if appropriate) How is it used?
2. Determine your target audience. As you'll see, companies target specific groups in order to sell their products. You will need to decide the items below for your product.
a. Target age group?
b. Target gender?
c. Target economic group? (Lower, middle, or upper class)
d. Is any specific race or ethnicity targeted?
3. Create a print ad for your product, such as those you see in magazines. You must use one of the three appeals in your advertisement.
a. Which appeal are you using? (Choose one: ethos, pathos, or logos)
b. Product name and image are visible.
c. Slogan is visible.
d. You may use a computer or draw the ad. The computer may be used to draw and/or create your ad, but you may NOT use any images of currently existing products. The print ad should be the size of a normal piece of computer paper
4. Create a thirty-second advertisement for television. You trust also use an appeal in this ad; however, it mays, be the same appeal that you used in the print ad

ii. A description
iii. Camera information on (wide shot or close-ups, tell us as it changes)
5. The final part of your project is your written explanation. The explanations need to analyze why your ad works, who you are targeting, and how the ad attempts to persuade. Each of the questions below needs to be addressed in complete sentences in paragraph format. Each paragraph requires a minimum of seven sentences.
a. Paragraph 1- include the information from number 1&2 above.
b. Paragraph 2- Explain your print advertisement. Include:
i. What appeal did you use?
ii. Whom are you trying to appeal to?
iii. Why do you feel your commercial would be successful?
iv. What are two magazines you feel your advertisement should be in and why that audience is relevant to your product?
C. Paragraph 3 - Explain your commercial, Include:
i. What appeal did you use?
ii. Whom you are trying to appeal to?
iii. Why do you feel your commercial would be successful?
iv. What are three channels your commercial would run on and why that audience is relevant to your product?
v. What time block would you like your commercial to run in? Give a 2 hour window.
Extra Credit: You can earn extra credit by producing and starring in your 30-second commercial. This will need to be turned in at the time your final project is due. This should be emailed or submitted on a flash drive.
