When you’re a multipassionate entrepreneur, juggling multiple jobs comes with the territory. In this MarieTV Live Call-In Show, Marie Forleo helps two entrepreneurs figure out how to grow their businesses without risking everything. Learn how to keep things simple when you’re juggling multiple responsibilities and trying to reach more than one audience.

Step 2 Post the following.

Respond to the following, and if appropriate, include personal experience as part of your answers.  Cite your resources and put quotation marks around direct quotes to support your opinions.  You may also refer back to the previous MarieTV video "How to Make the Best Decisions" to support your opinions.

  • Briefly describe the type of business that you either own, have owned or aspire to own?  If none of these are the case for you, then describe the type of business you would own if you were forced to own one.
  • Look inside yourself and describe your level  of risk adverseness.  Which "Camp" do you most relate to:

Camp 1: When you quit the job and you must make money, that is when you rise up - so having that financial pressure is actually a positive thing - you enjoy financial risk.

Camp 2: Financially risk adverse (like Marie), have side jobs until you feel comfortable enough to leave those side jobs and run your business full time because your creativity may go down with added financial and emotional pressure.

  • Describe the "worst case scenario" and "the best thing that can happen" if you take this risk.
  • Have you ever worked multiple jobs?  If so, did this work to your advantage?  Why or why not.
  • Provide a one to two sentence summary with your opinion of this video.
Step 3 Read and respond to other students' posts.

Comment on the thoughts expressed by at least two other students. If differences of opinion occur, debate and support your viewpoint professionally, citing references and resources appropriately.

I wish I had a business that I own already, that would honestly be so cool! Anyways, If I could own a business it would probably be a bakery, because I like to bake and I have taken culinary arts in my high school years and found it to be very fun and exciting. I also enjoy baking at home and for my friends and family whenever there is a special occasion or holiday I am always in charge of the desserts. I also think it would be good to put my culinary art skills to use!

I think that my level of risk averseness would be camp 2 because I don’t think that I could handle the amount of stress, anxiety and financial pressure of only really relying on one job to make money. I would rather work for hours on both my side jobs and my business than only focusing on one. I think that it would put me at a better spot because I’ll have money while at the same time focusing on my main goal. However, that is just based on what I think I could handle in the future based on the semi-close situations and experiences that I’ve had in the past.

I think the worst that could happen is that I get behind on my current jobs and end up getting fired and having to rely on my business to make it. Or having to rely only on my current jobs if my business doesn’t end up doing as well as I thought. Another worst case scenario would be being stressed out to the max and ending up hating the current jobs or business and then just becoming unmotivated and too tired to do neither. Now for the best thing that I think could happen would be to get promoted at the current jobs while slowly seeing the business start to get better. Or another would be to be able to quit the side jobs after a few months because the business is progressively increasing and people are finally noticing what I’ve been working on for so long.

I am going to be completely honest and say I have never worked, now don’t get me wrong, I would’ve started working my freshman year of high school if I could but I was to young, then I would worked my senior year(when I was finally 17) but this corona virus came around and I also had night classes and high school so I couldn’t. I wish I could work right now but it is still so scary and stressful to go out and work at times like this, but kudos to all of you still working at a time like this I hope you are all continuing to stay safe (especially if you are working multiple jobs)!

I enjoyed the video very much because it was interesting to hear how Marie responded to each question. It was also cool to hear other peoples stories about their life and how they are looking at their situation and trying to better themselves so that they don’t end up giving up on something that they worked so hard on.
