Write the constraint described by each of the following statements,1-8. Variable terms should all be on the left side of the constraint followed by the correct inequality or equality symbol and the right side should be a numeric value. I recommend using the equation writer in Word under the Insert tab.
Example 1: The ratio of  t can be no more than 3 to 4.
Write out what the constraint describes:
The first part of the constraint states the ratio of  t, which is written as .
The second part states the ration "can be no more than", which means it has to less than or equal what follows, .
The third part gives another ratio, 3 to 4 or .
Then put the three parts of the constraint together,  .
We need to linearize the expression by getting each variable isolated. If we have x*y or x/y (same as x * 1/y), where x and y represent any variable. The expression is not linear when variables are multiplied together.
Cross multiply to remove the ratios and linearize the expression:  
The proper format of a constraint is to consolidate the variable terms to the left of the inequality and numeric terms consolidated to the right of the inequality.
