AIM: Determining refractive index of unknown media mystery A and mystery B

Physics

AIM: Determining refractive index of unknown media mystery A and mystery B. This assignment is based on Experiment 7 in your laboratory manual. 1.After opening experimental link attached below, select Intro section and familiarise yourself with an experimental setup loaded. 2. Ensure that medium 1 is Air and medium 2 is first Mystery A and afterwards Mystery B. 3. Place a protractor along an interface of Air-Mystery A/B media (click, hold and drag protractor). Ensure that 0° is aligned with the normal line ( dashed line perpendicular to an interface) and 90° is aligned with an interface.  4. Click a red button on a light source to display a ray. Align a ray with a 0° by dragging a light source in a clockwise direction. Now to start an experiment, shift a light source by 5° in an anticlockwise direction until you reach a critical angle. For each shifting, read both an incident and refraction angles, and record them.  5. Tabulate your measurements for both media mystery A and B. 6. Follow procedure number 8 in page 38 of your laboratory manual for analysis of tabulated measurements.  7. Report your findings in a scientific report, as described in Appendix C of your laboratory manual. Ensure that your analysis are done following instructions of dealing with significant figures (see Appendix B). Remember to do error analysis for your experimentally determined values of index of refraction (see Appendix D in you laboratory manual). 8. Attach a laboratory report on the space provided below to submit.     ?  bending-light_en.html    2068 KBC "Browse" to locate your file and then click "Upload" to upload your file.
