Respond to this 2 questions below in detail

1, As a society, how can we reduce military spending and still feel safe?

Military budget has been an all-time high and has used funds that could have been allocated towards resources such as providing for new schools and even paying tuition fees. How can we cut back without getting fear put into us by sources such as the media or government officials, that make us believe we are not safe without a strong military?

2, How can we address racial discrimination as a society? especially when hiring is mostly done privately. How can hiring process change?

In chapter 10, sociologists and scholars conducted research to investigate if race and ethnicity count for unemployment. It was stated in the chapter, "This body of research reveals clear evidence of discrimination, conscious or unconscious, in hiring and also of racial/ethnic differences in access to the informal networks that are often so important for hiring". Experiments and research show that there is discrimination happening in the process of hiring. How can we address and end discrimination when it comes to applying for certain positions? I think it is an act that can be easily hidden and "brushed under the rug" because it is done privately or by one individual. I think in my case, based on my race and ethnicity, I have felt like unless I have a "connection" or I "network" I wouldn't have some of the opportunities that I have had for employment. It shouldn't have to be that way.
