There were agriculture problems and steel were barely pro?table. Lumber and mining were also declining. 2. What affect did the Depression have on different groups of people in society? {e.g.. the family) The depression had an effect on a lot of people. especially African Americans were discriminated against by white men that were mad about losing their jobs. Farmers lost their farms from not being able to pay the mortgage which caused a lot of other problems. 3. How did the Depression affect other countries in the world? The Great Depression was devastation to other countries because income. pro?ts. and prices dropped while international trade plunged by more than 50%. Unemployment rose up to 25% in some countries. 4. How did President Hoover's response to the Depression change over time? President Hoover focused on two very important tradition. He asked people to work harder and he asked the business community to volunteer their help in order to sustain the economy by retaining workers and continuing production. 5. Do you think the president is totally responsible for the state of our union? Why or why not? Explain. I do not thing the president is solely responsible for our union. He has a lot of people behind him helping him make the decisions. be has to take everyone into consideration when he's making changes.
