Research Project Presentations Guidelines•You will be assigned to a Biology related research-topic. You will be doing research and leading a presentation on the topic on specific dates that will be distributed throughout the semester. •Your presentation will consist of an oral delivery reinforced with a PowerPoint and a visual aid where you will be graded according to your mastery of content and the materials presented to support your presentation. I will set up 5-10-minute one-on-one zoom sessions where you will be asked to present and explain your topic.Here are some guidelines:1. Create a descriptive outline that fits your presentation to help you with the main points. 2. Organize your presentation with a clear introduction that lays out the topic well; a body that presents evidence and arguments, and a conclusion summarizing the topic presentation. You must present your information in a logical, organized sequence where data, graphs, and concept maps on your presentation are included.3. Reference slide. Research your topic as a scientist. Back up any statements you make with correctly-cited references to the books and articles you’ve read. You must have at least three reputable sources of information included. Your resources must be cited correctly at the end of your presentation. These may be in any format but they must stay consistent throughout your presentation. 4. Your information must be well researched and communicated during the presentation. You must appear prepared and practiced, able to explain your topic. Some points to consider:Does it have an impact on life? Why would it be important to our knowledge of biology? 5. You will prepare a PowerPoint presentation and also must have a visual for your presentation like poster, collage, 3D model, infographics. Your visual aid must show the use of your creative imagination. Your presentation should be at least 5 minutes long and not more than 10 minutes. Anything less will lose points. 6. In your oral presentation, you must explain and discuss (not merely recite) what you have read.Reading only will lower your grade dramatically.7. You will give your presentation on a zoom conference with video on, in our regularly scheduled class time, and upload your PowerPoint on the Canvas website on the day of your presentation or before. Please proof-read your work before delivery.8. You should be able to answer questions from the audience. You should be well researched on your topic

9. Be wary of the internet. The news media frequently report stories that are connected to biology. If you find something related to your topic, make sure to include it, and describe the biological connections you perceive in the article.10. I will assign you the topics by alphabetical order on the class list.11. Please read the rubric for this assignment for more information.12. Make your presentation interesting, interactive, and fun. Inspire others to learn more about your topic. Practice, practice, practice to make your presentation flow, and display good public speaking skills.Any questions, don’t hesitate to ask after you have read these guidelines and the rubric.
