EDU4354 Book Review

This is an individual written assignment expected to be approximately 3 pages in length

(not including title page, reference page or photos).

Due: Week 2. Standard late penalties noted in the CSI apply.

Worth 5% of final grade

Assignment: the purpose of book review is to gain further understanding of the range

of attitudes, messages and philosophies found in children’s publications that can affect culturally diverse children, their families and caregivers. In order to increase your crosscultural competence and knowledge of available resources and the range of attitudes and philosophies that can occur in children’s literature, you are required to complete a book review.

You are responsible for locating/obtaining a children’s book about culture (the book should relate to one of the topics/ units listed on the CSI). After reading the book you will complete a book report.

Your report must include the following sections:

1. Introduction (approx.. ½ page)

Your introduction is the basis of your paper. It establishes the context for your reader. Introduce the assignment and write a purpose statement (the purpose of this assignment is to…). Be sure to explain what will be included in the paper.

??Picture of book cover (included as an appendix and not counted in page length)

2. Over-all Quality of the Book (approx.. 1 page)

4. Summary (approx. ½ page)

In this section, you will wrap up the assignment. Reiterate any main points and remind the reader what was discussed in the paper. You will want to leave the reader satisfied.

Reference

Include a reference page where you list any references used within the paper.

Format

Typed, double-spaced, 12 point font (preferably Times Roman or Arial), approximately 3 pages in length that includes the headings for each of the sections.

the CSI apply.
