  • *GETTING STARTED
  • Open the file SC_WD19_EOM5-2_FirstLastName_1.docx, available for download from the SAM website.
  • Save the file as SC_WD19_EOM5-2_FirstLastName_2.docx by changing the “1” to a “2”.
    • If you do not see the .docx file extension in the Save As dialog box, do not type it. The program will add the file extension for you automatically.
  • With the file SC_WD19_EOM5-2_FirstLastName_2.docx still open, ensure that your first and last name is displayed in the footer.
    • If the footer does not display your name, delete the file and download a new copy from the SAM website.
  • PROJECT STEPS
  1. You work as a counselor for Career Restart, a nonprofit organization that helps skilled workers return to the workforce after a career break. You are helping Felipe Rosado update his resume, which he created from a Word template. He is seeking a new position as a hospital administrator in the San Diego area.

    Type Felipe in the First Name content control to replace the placeholder text with Felipe's first name.
  2. Delete the Middle Name content control to create room to fit Felipe's full name on the first line of the resume. Delete the extra space between the remaining content controls.
  3. Type Rosado in the Last Name content control to replace the placeholder text with Felipe's last name.
  4. Replace the text "[Email Address]" with a hyperlink to the email address frosado@cengage.com that uses frosado@cengage.com as the text to display.
  5. Edit the "Online Portfolio" hyperlink to use cengage.com/rosado as the text to display to provide the web address to his webpage. Add Online portfolio as the ScreenTip text.
  6. Apply the Lines (Simple) style set to use a more distinctive layout and style.
  7. Change the theme fonts to Cambria to make the text easier to read.
  8. Copy the table row in the "Skills" section beginning "Health insurance processing" and ending "Data analysis". Paste the row in the blank paragraph at the end of the "Skills" section to add a row for additional skills. Delete the extra paragraph mark. Edit the text so that Management appears in the first column of the new row and Teamwork appears in the second column.
  9. On page 2, insert a Category document property building block in the blank paragraph below the "Keywords" heading to include text stored in the Category document property.
  10. Create a paragraph style named ResumeNote based on the paragraph on page 1 beginning "Objective is to obtain…" and ending "…major California hospital." Apply the new ResumeNote style to the "References are available at [link to webpage]." paragraph at the end of the document.
  11. Replace the text "[link to webpage]" with a hyperlink to www.cengage.com/references that uses cengage.com/references as the text to display to provide a link to Felipe's references.
  12. Change the top and bottom margins to 0.5" and change the left and right margins to 0.75" so that the entire resume fits on one page.

Your document should look like the Final Figure on the following pages. Save your changes, close the document, and then exit Word. Follow the directions on the SAM website to submit your completed project.
