Conversion between grams and kilograms is straight forward if you know the metric system number line. Grams are considered a standard unit and have the base of 10^0 equaling 1. Kilo is 10^3 equaling 1000. So, there are 1000g/1kg. If you want to convert from g to kg, then divide by the conversion factor. If you want to convert from kg to g, then multiply by the conversion factor and the units for kg will cancel out.
